This was one of my earliest
commissioned portraits, not long after
I had begun painting full-time. In the
original photograph I worked from the
women's face was very small - about
the size of my fingernail! The client
also wanted alterations ... add the
jewelry, change the sweater from
white to black, and make her mother's
mustache less pronounced.
