For years I kept the cover of a magazine I
had bought because of the photograph of
this little girl. I told myself that one day I
would paint it. In 1999, when I moved back
home to start my career as a full-time
artist, this was the very first painting I did.
It holds special meaning because this is the
painting with which I taught myself to use
watercolor.
