When I first left my job in the graphics
industry and moved back home to be a
full-time artist I had to teach myself
how to use watercolors. I knew from
early on that I loved portraiture so I
had my niece, Lora Beth, put on her
favorite outfit and pose for me. In this
picture, just out of the frame, their
dog was standing with his butt almost
in her face, wagging his tale. Her
expression was caught by my camera
just as she looked at me and said,
"What a goofy dog!"
