In the late fall of 2007 I was contacted
by someone to paint several images
with a Texas theme for potentially
selling prints in that state through a
retail store. I wanted to convey a
sense of "Texas" without traditional
imagery or the cliche' style of a
cowboy sitting on a horse, etc. The
Yellow Rose of Texas is the state song
and I liked the idea of using it to
illustrate the theme.
