Several years ago I came across this
face in a magazine. The unknown
woman was the image illustrating the
beautiful complexion of the French
woman who go to spas for facials, etc. I
was struck by the lighting and the
delicacy of her features. I knew I had to
paint it. Yet I wanted to create a deeper
meaning than a good complexion gained
by spa treatments! I first painted the
image as I saw it and set it aside to
think. After a couple of days it "told me"
to paint the cloak and the black mist
surrounding her, as if she were walking
through the veil of worlds ... thus, the
Prophetess was born.
