Rose & Parchment

In the late fall of 2007 I was contacted
by someone to paint several images with
a Texas theme for potentially selling
prints in that state through a retail
store. Even after I painted Rose &
Parchment, I was stuck on the idea of
the state song, The Yellow Rose of
Texas, and wanted to paint something to
represent it a bit more traditional with a
"vintage" feel. I was pleased that when a
couple of people saw the original
painting they thought the parchment was
actually paper I had collaged onto the
image - but I hadn't, it's all painted.
