Sometimes portraits are symbolic, not
traditionally done as a face of the
person being portrayed. This is what I
thought about when I created this
painting of my friend, Sue. She has
strong Native American beliefs,
incorporated with some other eclectic
spiritualities. Her dominate totem
animals are the Hawk and the Turtle.
She is very earthy, has a wonderful
heart, and is strongly maternal.
Incorporated within this mandala are
many symbolic images representing
the various aspects of her life and of
the person I know Sue to be.
